I was walking through Coyote Hills one evening and felt a sharp pang of nostalgia. I had recently left Scouts and was filled with remorse, realizing I would never experience the fun I had outdoors again. It didn’t feel fair. I wanted to have a community that motivated me to try new things. I wanted to be a part of a community that promoted personal wellness and happiness. I couldn’t find one, so I decided to start one. The Outdoors Club has been built on the principles that students do not need to live the stressful lives that they do. That there should be opportunities for students to get away from their lives and connect with nature, helping to reset themselves. Our chief objective is not to put you through another work-intensive hour, but to motivate you to build a self-relaxation hour. I hope that getting outdoors, either on your own or with your friends and family, provides the same positive energy that it did and continues to do every day for me.
